The 10-day Winter Session of Karnataka's legislature starts Monday in Belagavi. Over 30 Bills will be tabled, possibly more. The last session saw 38 Bills, some unscheduled. Various groups like sugarcane growers, Panchamashali community, and anganwadi workers aim to press their demands. The BJP vows to 'lay siege' to the venue on December 9, protesting what it calls government neglect of farmers. Caste groups also join the fray. Kuruba leaders demand Scheduled Tribe status. Nomadic communities protest denial of a 1% internal quota reservation recommended by the Nagamohan Das Commission. This session promises heat both inside and outside the house.
