Customs officials at Chennai airport intercepted a flyer arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, and seized two gibbon monkeys hidden inside his checked-in trolley bag. The gibbons, an Agile Gibbon and an Eastern Grey Gibbon, were found concealed beneath chocolates. Authorities suspect there is a specific demand for these endangered species in the illegal pet trade. The flyer, acting as a carrier for a smuggler, was arrested and the gibbons were deported back to Thailand after receiving care from the wildlife bureau.
