HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has called on party workers to celebrate December 9 as Vijay Diwas. This day marks a historic moment in the Telangana statehood movement. Speaking in a tele-conference with senior leaders, MLAs, MLCs, and district presidents, KTR said, "This day will go down in history as the turning point for Telangana’s 60-year-long aspiration." He reminded everyone that December 9 was when the Central government began forming Telangana after K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s 11-day fast-unto-death. KTR noted that KCR’s hunger strike energized the statehood fight and led to success. Due to ongoing local body elections, KTR asked that celebrations remain at constituency headquarters only. Planned events include anointing Telangana Thalli statues with milk, garlanding the statue of Dr. Ambedkar, paying homage, and running charity programs. A special event will be held at NIMS and Gandhi Hospital, led by MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, where fruits will be given to patients. Published - December 07, 2025 08:28 pm IST
