DGCA Grants IndiGo CEO 24-Hour Extension to Reply on Operational Disruptions
December 8, 2025
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given IndiGo's Accountable Manager and CEO an extra 24 hours to reply to a show-cause notice issued on December 6. This notice relates to IndiGo's large-scale flight disruptions and regulatory failures. On December 7, the airline's top officials asked for more time due to the complexity of managing disruptions across many airports. After reviewing this request, the DGCA allowed the extension only until 6 p.m. on December 8 and stated no more extensions would be granted. The DGCA warned that if IndiGo does not submit a full and satisfactory response by the deadline, it will act based on the current evidence without further input. The regulator also reaffirmed its focus on passenger safety, strict rule enforcement, and quick return to normal flight operations amid this ongoing problem. DGCA continues to keep close watch on the situation.
