The mortal remains of three migrant workers from Jharkhand, among the 25 who died in the Goa nightclub fire, arrived in Ranchi on Monday morning (December 8, 2025), officials said. The victims were Pradeep (24) and Binod Mahto (20), two brothers from Fatehpur village, Lapung, and Mohit Munda (22) from Govindpur village, Khunti district's Karra block. The fire broke out after midnight on Sunday at a North Goa club. Agriculture Minister Shilpy Neha Tirkey said she coordinated with the Goa government to bring back the bodies. She added, "The bodies were sent to their native villages in special ambulances. I will request Chief Minister Hemant Soren for some welfare provisions for the families of the victims." The Labour Department has given ₹50,000 to each victim's family as immediate help. Shikha Lakra, lead of the State Migrant Control Room team, said two family members still stuck in Goa will return to Ranchi by evening flight. The three victims were part of 14 nightclub staff who lost their lives. The Mahto brothers had worked in Goa for about a year, sending ₹30,000 monthly to support their family. Their elder brother Phagu said, "Both were unmarried. They were scheduled to celebrate Holi with us next year." Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren extended condolences, calling the tragedy "extremely heartbreaking and tragic."
