Indian envoy Santosh Jha met Sri Lankan politician Namal Rajapaksa on Monday, December 8, 2025. The meeting showed India's strong support for Sri Lanka's recovery from Cyclone Ditwah. This cyclone caused massive floods and landslides, killing nearly 630 people and leaving 190 missing. Namal Rajapaksa, son of former President and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, thanked India for its ongoing relief work. The Indian High Commission posted on X, “Namal thanked India for the ongoing relief and rescue efforts under Operation Sagar Bandhu.” Mr. Jha assured that India would continue helping Sri Lanka rebuild. The High Commission said, "India will continue to support the people of Sri Lanka in their efforts to rebuild and recover."
