South Asian Envoys Visit Asia’s Largest Buddhist Park in Telangana During Global Summit

Six envoys from South Asia attending the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025 visited Buddhavanam, Asia’s largest Buddhist theme park, on December 8, 2025. Located in Nagarjunasagar, Nalgonda district, Buddhavanam impressed visitors with its magnificent Buddhist sculptures and architecture. The visitors were welcomed with lively Dappu and Kolatam dances. Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Special Officer of the Buddhavanam Project, hosted the delegates. E. Sivanagireddy, Buddhist expert and CEO of Pleach India Foundation, guided them through key features like Buddhacharithavanam and the Acharya Nagarjuna statue in the Maha Stupa. He explained the importance of the Buddhist art and culture rooted in the land of Acharya Nagarjuna. Mr. Laxmaiah showcased videos about Buddhavanam and the Buddhist heritage of Telangana. He also shared exciting plans to boost the park into a world-class tourist spot. The envoys then left for the Future City to join the summit sessions. Visiting dignitaries included Muzaffar Shabin Musthafa, High Commissioner of Malaysia; Sankar Prasad Sarma, Ambassador of Nepal to India; Major General Vetsot Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to India; Mahishini Collini, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka; and Chavanart Thangsumphamt, Ambassador of Thailand to India. They were accompanied by Ruchi Singh and Rahul Elavarthy from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
