The Chikkaballapura Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced Ashoka, a 30-year-old truck driver, to life imprisonment and fined him ₹25,000 for raping his 65-year-old mother. Ashoka, the third child in the family, lived with his parents after his wife left him. He was a known alcoholic and abusive. In August 2024, he came home drunk and attacked his mother while she was sleeping. He dragged her to the backyard and raped her near a garbage dump despite her resistance and cries for help. Her husband heard her screams and intervened, but Ashoka had already fled. The victim was taken to Gudibande Government Hospital for treatment. The police filed charges including rape and voluntarily causing hurt. Ashoka was caught and placed in judicial custody before the court trial.
