Three people died on the spot and three others were seriously injured in a head-on collision between two cars near Thadukupeta, Nagari mandal, Chittoor district on Tuesday, December 9. Police said both vehicles were moving at high speed and crashed head-on, trapping the passengers inside. Passersby alerted the police, who launched a rescue operation. The injured were taken to the Government Area Hospital in Nagari. Two of the deceased were Shankaram and Santanam, potu (kitchen) workers at the Padmavathi Ammavaru Temple under Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in Tiruchanur, near Tirupati. The third victim was from Tamil Nadu. Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy expressed his shock and called the deaths of the temple workers "deeply saddening." The Nagari police have registered a case and started an investigation.
