Andhra Loyola College (ALC) buzzed with joy as it marked its 72nd Foundation Day on Tuesday. Students proudly wore ethnic costumes representing 22 Indian States in a spirited procession. The football ground turned into a food lovers’ paradise with 40 stalls serving visitors. G. Kondala Rao, former Director of All India Radio, Vijayawada, urged students to cherish cultural heritage. He said, "Do not use mobile phone while driving," and encouraged reading books, taking pride in mother tongue, and working sincerely to reach goals. Principal Melchior thanked the college founders for their vision and highlighted that the college has produced many leaders. Correspondent Angelo added the college was built by local well-wishers and alumni of Jesuit institutions. Students competed fiercely for titles and trophies. G. Kiran Kumar, a second-year Chemistry student, won the ‘Mr. Ethnic’ title. Tanishqa Arora, first-year English student, was named ‘Ms. Ethnic.’ In the Degree level Tug-of-War, B. Com boys were champions while BBA boys were runners-up. Among girls, BBA students took first place and B. Sc Computer Science came second. At the Intermediate level, MEC boys bagged the Tug-of-War title with BiPC boys finishing second. For girls, the BiPC group won and MPC students were runners-up. Other contests included stall decoration and food tasting. Vice-principals Kiran, Suresh, and deans Subha, Francis Xavier managed the event, with strong support from staff and the student council. More than 5,000 staff and students joined the grand celebrations.
