December 10, 2025
Former Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian highlighted the importance of competitive federalism between States and the Central Government. Speaking at the Telangana Rising Global Summit valedictory on Tuesday, he called Telangana a model for other States to follow. He said, "Telangana and Hyderabad could become cradles for competitive federalism and sub-federalism."
Subramanian pointed out that Hyderabad is emerging as a magnet for investments, especially as cities like New Delhi struggle with pollution and Bengaluru faces congestion. He noted, "Hyderabad is turning out to be a magnet for investments."
On the summit, he said investment summits are like elections, stating, "Like all of the hard work done between elections, it has to be seen how much of these commitments translate into investments between the summits."
He also expressed concern about the growing "Revdi culture," referring to the culture of freebies.
The remarks came at an event that showcased Telangana’s potential as a leader in economic competition and sub-national growth.
