On December 10, 2025, around 200 parishioners from the 'One Church One Qurbana Movement' occupied Ernakulam St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. They protested against the public facing Mass that resumed on December 2. The protestors claim the Mass was held against court orders that kept the church closed for over 1,000 days since November 2022. The uniform Holy Mass started under the leadership of basilica administrator Fr. Thomas Mangatt. Protestors allege no proper notice was given to supporters of the uniform Mass before resuming the service. The dispute continues to split the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese, with the group seeking respect for the court’s status quo order and opposing the dissident faction’s Mass celebrations at the Basilica.
