Kerala has launched its first electric bike rental service at Kozhikode railway station. The Palakkad Division of Southern Railway introduced this eco-friendly last-mile travel option on December 10, 2025. Commuters can rent e-bikes at ₹50 per hour, ₹500 for 12 hours, or ₹750 for 24 hours. The service operates with all required clearances, and the contractor has been granted the State's first e-bike rental licence. These bikes can be used anywhere in India, giving riders great flexibility. Railway officials said the service will especially benefit passengers from nearby towns, tourists visiting Kozhikode's beaches and markets, students, professionals, and short-distance travelers needing multiple stops. The e-bikes aim to reduce travel costs, save time, and ease city mobility as footfall at Kozhikode station grows. Importantly, this initiative supports a cleaner environment by offering zero-emission transport. This step marks a green boost to Kerala's urban travel options, promoting sustainable and convenient commuting.
