Tumakuru police arrested a six-member gang on December 10. The gang came to Sira taluk with plans to rob jewellery shops. The accused are Praveen Kumar, Om Kumar Bishnoi, Dileep, Ravindra Sharan, Dinesh, and Kailash Chowdary from Rajasthan. They reached Tumakuru on December 4 morning. Around 9:45 a.m. the gang entered Mahalakshmi Bankers and Jewelers in Cheluru. They showed sharp weapons and demanded gold from the owner, Sunil. The owner resisted and shouted for help, alerting nearby shops. The gang got scared and fled in their hatchback car with a fake number plate. Tumakuru Superintendent of Police Ashok K.V. formed a special team to catch them. Using technical leads, the police arrested the suspects within days. Investigations showed the gang planned multiple robberies using fake number plates to avoid detection.
