Kerala police have booked a Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activist for carrying a knife during the final stage of the Kerala local body election campaign at Omassery in Kozhikode district. The case was registered at Koduvally police station against Abdul Salam Moothedath, aged 35. The complaint came from a group of United Democratic Front (UDF) activists in the area. Police recovered a video showing the youth carrying the knife from multiple sources. Authorities said Abdul Salam acted despite warnings from his own party workers. Some UDF workers claimed that the DYFI activist appeared to challenge his political rivals and threatened them to leave the campaign site. They also alleged he ran towards certain local UDF campaigners. The incident happened amid the heated atmosphere of the local body elections. The police continue to investigate.
