Karnataka Braces for Cold Wave as Temperatures Fall Sharply from Dec 12-16

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) has warned of a sharp fall in minimum temperatures from December 12 to 16. South Interior Karnataka and Malnad regions will experience temperatures 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below normal. This will lead to cold wave and severe cold wave conditions in some areas.
Current minimum temperatures recorded on Thursday morning show Mysuru at 14.5°C, Mandya at 13.5°C, Chamarajanagar at 13.9°C, and Hassan at 13.4°C. Kodagu was warmer, at 16.9°C. The lowest temperatures in the state are at Bidar (10°C) and Kalaburagi (10.4°C).
The KSNDMC also said many districts in North Karnataka will face cold wave conditions with temperatures 2 to 4 degrees below normal. They advised wearing multiple layers of clothing and urged people to stay indoors and avoid travel to protect themselves from the cold winds.
