Kerala Excise officers arrested Nigerian Mohammed Jamiu Abdu Rahim at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. He was a major operator in an international drug network running across Bengaluru and Kerala. The arrest followed a special investigation team's probe into large drug cases in Wayanad, Kerala. Four previously arrested suspects said they got drugs from Abdu Rahim. He was also the main supplier to other African nationals in Bengaluru and a key facilitator of drugs into Kerala. The special team had watched him for almost two months. Earlier, he escaped to Nigeria via Ethiopia just before being caught. A Look Out Circular was issued, helping track his return to India with help from central agencies like the Bureau of Immigration and Intelligence Bureau. The accused was taken to Kerala securely under CISF protection. Kerala Minister M.B. Rajesh praised the Excise department, calling the arrest a “golden feather in Kerala Excise’s cap” and reaffirming the state’s strong fight against narcotics.
