The State Election Commission reported that 73.69% of eligible voters cast their votes this time. Pathanamthitta district saw the lowest turnout at 66.78%, while Wayanad had the highest at 78.29%. Although the turnout percentage dropped from 75.95% in 2020 and 77.76% in 2015, the number of voters who participated this time was the highest ever at 21,079,609.
Among municipal corporations, Thiruvananthapuram had the lowest voting percentage at 58.29%, and Kannur had the highest at 70.33%.
These local body elections are viewed as a sign of the political mood ahead of the assembly polls due in a few months. Political fronts have been actively debating issues like corruption, women's safety, and development.
In the 2020 elections, the LDF secured five out of six corporations, 44 of 87 municipalities (including Mattannur which held elections in 2022), over 500 of 941 grama panchayats, over 100 of 152 block panchayats, and 11 of 14 district panchayats.
