The United Democratic Front (UDF) maintained strong control over Ernakulam district's municipalities in the December 13, 2025 elections. After four hours of counting, NDA secured a rare win at Thripunitura municipality around noon. UDF led in 12 municipalities including Aluva, Angamaly, Eloor, Kalamassery, Koothattukulam, Kothamangalam, Maradu, Muvattupuzha, North Paravur, Perumbavoor, Piravom, and Thrikkakara. At Thripunitura, NDA won 21 of 53 wards, narrowly ahead of the Left front's 20 seats and UDF's 12 seats. The UDF is set to take back Koothattukulam and Kothamangalam municipalities, previously held by the Left front in 2020. Piravom saw UDF dominate with leads in 21 of 28 wards. In the 2020 polls, UDF had won eight municipalities, while the Left front held Eloor, Koothattukulam, Kothamangalam, Piravom, and Thripunitura. Notably, rebel CPI(M) councillor Kala Raju aided UDF in capturing Koothattukulam after the last council term. This expands UDF's tally to nine municipalities in Ernakulam.
