Man Caught Selling Fake Ghee in Secunderabad; Police Seize 200kg Adulterated Stock
December 13, 2025
On December 13, police in Secunderabad arrested Annamali Sainathan, 68, for making and selling adulterated ghee. Acting on credible information, the Commissioner's Task Force (North Zone) and Market police raided his home in the Second Bazar area.
Police said Annamali, a former tiffin centre owner near Monda Market, turned to illegal ghee production after closing his business due to financial problems. Investigators found he mixed plant-based oils like coconut oil, palm oil, and vegetable oil with food colors to make fake ghee.
The impure ghee was packed in one-litre poly packs and sold as cow ghee to local markets and pooja stores at ₹600 per kilogram. Police seized about 200 kilograms of adulterated ghee, a weighing machine, packing machine, packing covers, and a mobile phone, worth around ₹1.5 lakh.
Officials warned that this activity endangered public health and cheated consumers for unlawful gain. Legal action is underway under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
