A person of interest has been detained in connection with a shooting at Brown University in Providence, police said. The shooting on Saturday killed two people and injured nine others. Police confirmed the detention on Sunday and lifted the shelter-in-place order at the university and surrounding areas. The gunman opened fire at around 16:00 local time in a classroom at the Holley engineering building on campus. Brown University President Christina Paxson said all victims, both killed and wounded, were students. Nine were hurt, with one in critical condition, six critical but stable, and two less severely injured. Police earlier shared CCTV footage showing a male suspect in all black walking away. No firearm was found in a search of the building.
