2017 Actor Rape Case Survivor Slams Verdict, Alleges Evidence Tampering and Bias
December 14, 2025
The survivor in the 2017 actor rape case has voiced strong disappointment over last week's court verdict. In a social media post, she said she noticed changes in how the case was handled from as early as 2020, especially involving one accused. She said, "This verdict may surprise many people, but it did not surprise me."
She claims her rights were ignored and critical evidence was tampered with. "The most important evidence in this case—the memory card—was found to have been illegally accessed three times while it was in court custody," she wrote. Two public prosecutors resigned, calling the court environment hostile and biased. They warned her not to expect justice.
She also raised concerns that the accused asked for the same judge to continue the case, despite her demand for a fair trial. She wrote letters to India's President and Prime Minister seeking intervention. Her request for open court proceedings with media presence was denied.
Despite the setback, she thanked that six accused were convicted. She also denied rumors spread online that accused number one was her personal driver. "He was not my driver, not my employee and not someone I knew," she said.
She addressed abusive comments and alleged paid campaigns online targeting her. "You are free to continue doing what you are paid to do," she wrote.
Her post highlights her tough fight for justice and the obstacles she faced in the court system.
