Dubai Rolls Out New Gold Number Plates for Delivery Motorcycles from December
December 16, 2025
Dubai has set new rules for motorcycles and e-bikes used by delivery companies. From the end of December, all corporate delivery bikes must display special number plates on both front and rear. Private motorcycles do not need these plates. The new plates will be gold with black letters and have a '9' code to mark delivery vehicles. These plates will be given when licenses are newly issued, renewed, or replaced if lost or damaged. The rule applies to parcel, document, order management, digital platform deliveries, and rental services. Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency, said this will "enhance road safety, improve delivery operations, and strengthen traffic discipline" as the delivery sector grows fast. The change came after teamwork between the RTA and Dubai Police. Delivery riders are barred from using the two fastest lanes on roads with five or more lanes, and the leftmost lane on roads with three or four lanes. No lane restrictions apply on roads with fewer lanes. This plan is part of Dubai’s larger goal to control the delivery sector, make roads safer, and match international standards.
