Nick Reiner, son of the late director Rob Reiner, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. Police arrested him as the main suspect in the murders of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. Their bodies were found on Sunday afternoon at their Brentwood home by their daughter, Romy. Both showed knife wounds, said officials. LAPD Police Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed the arrest, calling Nick Reiner the "main suspect". A dramatic photo showed Nick Reiner on the floor during his arrest, released by the LAPD Gang Unit. The Reiner family expressed heartbreak. They said, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time." Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton said the homicide investigation is ongoing. Early reports mentioned Nick and Rob had a loud fight at a holiday party the night before the deaths. The LAPD statement said officers were called on December 14, 2025, around 3:40 p.m. to the Reiner home in Brentwood. They found Rob and Michele dead. The investigation quickly showed it was a homicide. Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. He was booked for murder and is held without bail under Booking Number 7144668. The case will go to the LA County District Attorney on December 16, 2025 for filing charges.
