Three Dead in Twin Taipei Metro Attacks; Suspect Also Dies

At least three people have died in attacks at two metro stations in Taipei, Taiwan, officials said. The suspect also died after falling from a building. "Three people were confirmed dead including the suspect," a Taipei City Fire Department official told AFP. Earlier, Taiwan Premier Cho Jung-tai said three attacked victims suffered cardiac arrest, and five others were hurt from stabbings and blunt force injuries. The suspect wore a mask and threw "five or six gasoline bombs or smoke grenades" at Taipei Main Station metro, Cho said. The motive is still unknown, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are raising security across Taiwan. "All important locations including railway stations, highways, subway stations and airports are maintaining a high level of alert and vigilance," said the Premier.
