Inam Veerapur village near Belagali of Hubballi taluk witnessed a tragic honour killing on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Manya Vivekanad Doddamani, 19, a young pregnant woman, was attacked with lethal weapons. She died in a Hubballi hospital, along with her unborn baby. Manya had married Vivekananda Doddamani of a different caste in May 2025, against her parents' wishes. The couple had earlier faced threats and moved to Haveri for safety. They returned to the village on December 8. On December 21, Manya's father and others first attacked her husband Vivekananda and his father in the field. Then, they broke into the house and attacked Manya, her mother-in-law Renavva, and others. Vivekananda and his parents are hospitalized with injuries. Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya confirmed two suspects, Prakashgouda Patil and Arungouda Patil, are in custody. A case has been registered against eight people. The police are investigating the reasons behind this deadly assault. To secure the area, police increased security around the hospital and village. Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar and Inspector Murugesh Channannavar also visited the hospital to collect details.
