Ukrainian forces shared video footage of Russian soldiers riding horses toward frontline positions. This unusual sight points to Russia’s growing shortage of military equipment. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' 5th Assault Battalion of the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade spotted the soldiers and tracked them using drones, Kyiv Post reported. The footage was posted on the 92nd Brigade’s official Facebook page with live commentary from Ukrainian troops. The brigade said that Russian troops lose equipment so fast during repeated attacks that they now must move on horseback. “Russian occupiers are losing equipment so quickly during their ‘meat assaults’ that they are forced to move on horseback. But even this does not help them,” the brigade stated. They added that drone operators attack the enemy as soon as they spot them. The video shows a soldier riding across open ground, tracked from above by a drone. The drone strikes as the soldier tries to flee. Another rider is hit, falling off after the blast. Ukrainian officials confirmed that the riders were killed defending Ukrainian positions using drones. Commentary suggests this shows how hard it is for Russia to break through well-guarded areas. Ukrainian servicemember and activist Mykola Voroshnov called the scene “extraordinary.” He wrote, “Cavalry assaulting our positions. This is insane.” Voroshnov said such events are now discussed in closed military groups and expressed sympathy for the horses. Earlier reports showed that Russian forces, short of vehicles, also use donkeys for transport and logistics in some conflict zones.
