South Central Railway GM pushes winter safety and energy conservation with EV display
December 23, 2025
South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Monday (December 22, 2025) emphasized the need for winter preparedness. He instructed officials to clear bushes near tracks to ensure signals are clearly visible. Regular checks at critical points like bridges, level crossings, and station approaches must be done. At the weekly safety meeting held at Rail Nilayam, he urged meticulous plans for Periodical Overhauling (POH) and Routine Overhauling (ROH) of coaches and wagons. This is to strengthen safety and punctuality.
The GM reviewed safety action plans in various departments: mechanical, engineering, electrical, and signal & telecommunications. He checked safety equipment availability such as GPS trackers for keymen and patrolling staff, walkie-talkies, and fog devices on trains. Focus was put on alertness at level crossings and safety training for private siding staff. He also addressed grievances from safety workers about working hours, lighting on yards and pathways, and the carrying of detonators.
Earlier, Srivastava inaugurated an exhibition on energy conservation at Rail Nilayam lawns. Six stalls were set up by Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions, electric loco shed/Lalaguda, Energy Efficient Services Limited (EESL), Havells, and Pom Power. The displays featured occupancy sensors, LED and solar street lights, automatic power factor correction panels, solar bifacial panels, electric vehicle charging units, and switch gears.
EESL showcased electric vehicles including bicycles, scooters, and cars to highlight sustainable and energy-efficient transportation. This exhibition underlines South Central Railway’s commitment to green energy and safety during winter, a statement by the officials said.
