Cyberabad Police Rescue 2,298 Children and Arrest Over 500 in Street Prostitution Crackdown in 2025

The Cyberabad police made women and children safety their top priority in 2025. The Women and Children Safety Wing (W&CSW) took strong action against street prostitution and human trafficking. They booked 121 cases involving street prostitution and arrested 508 people. This included 262 sex workers and 246 transgender persons.
Senior officials said, "We are seeing an increase in number of young women involved in street prostitution. They are bound over and, during counselling, we learn that many are pursuing education in various colleges. The next big category is women working as domestic help."
As part of the crackdown, 356 people were bound over and 24 sex workers sent to jail for violating sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Notices were issued under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, followed by counseling and warnings to stop repeat offenses. Awareness programs were increased in colleges and workplaces.
The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) registered 103 cases, arrested 257 accused, and rescued 195 victims. Ten foreign nationals involved in prostitution, including from Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Bangladesh, were deported with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office's help.
She Teams filed 83 cases, booked 2,964 petty charges, and counseled 3,322 individuals. They received 1,043 complaints directly and via social media. Their decoy operations caught 3,315 people and stopped one child marriage.
Under special drives Operation Smile-XI and Muskan-XI, police rescued 2,298 children. Most, 2,193, were reunited with their families, while 105 were placed in child care institutions. They registered 622 FIRs for these cases.
Family counseling centers held 9,477 sessions for 2,741 families, reuniting 803 families. Efforts to trace missing persons found 566 individuals and brought them home.
Outreach remained key. The AHTU conducted 299 awareness programs for over 6,020 people. She Teams led 3,887 programs with 1.76 lakh attendees, educating communities on safety and prevention.
