On December 23, at the Hyderabad district collectorate, 54 women voiced serious complaints about domestic violence and dowry harassment at the 'Naari Nyay – Hear Her Out' open hearing. Sunitha shared how she was forced to abort female fetuses after illegal gender tests and faced cruelty from her husband and in-laws. Takseem Fatima revealed her struggles with a jobless husband and unanswered police summons despite a domestic violence case. Sameena Begum, married in 2023, accused her husband and his brother of dowry torture and alleged sexual harassment by her father-in-law. Pregnant Sirisha, expecting delivery soon, spoke about relentless dowry harassment with no spousal support. Telangana State Commission for Women Chairperson Sharada Nerella said the hearing aims to listen directly, speed up justice, and address the high number of domestic violence cases. The panel also included Hyderabad Women Safety Wing Deputy Commissioner Lavanya Naik and Rachakonda SHE Teams Deputy Commissioner Usha Rani. The commission promised to take up all complaints seriously and ensure justice.
