Loud Underground Sound Sparks Tremor-Like Shakes in Malappuram, Kerala

A loud underground noise caused a tremor-like situation in parts of Malappuram district, Kerala, on Tuesday night. The thundering sound was heard at 11:16 p.m. in areas including Vengara, Kottakkal, Othukkungal, Edarikode, and others. Residents in multiple localities felt tremors and said their windows were shaking or that they felt movement inside vehicles. People rushed outside, alarmed by the noise and shaking. Surveillance cameras recorded the event, showing shaking and a cracking sound. However, government officials said no official tremor has been confirmed so far. No damage was reported from anywhere. A similar event had caused panic in the area back in 2022.
