Three Dead in Crash on NH-16 in Guntur After Bus Hits Stopped Car

Early on Friday, December 26, 2025, three people were killed instantly in a road accident on National Highway-16 near Kommineni Cold Storage under Nallapadu police limits in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the third lane of NH-16. A car traveling from Tirupati to Suryapet stopped at the roadside after the driver, feeling drowsy, stepped down from the highway to wash his face. "As soon as the car stopped, a Private Travels bus rammed into the stationary vehicle from behind," said Kandepu Vamsidhar, Circle Inspector of Police, Nallapadu. The crash impact was severe, killing Kunchala Venkataiah, 65, his wife Kunchala Suseela, 56, and Navila Mahesh, 28, all from Suryapet district. Fortunately, other car occupants, including Madhu, his wife, their two children, and his uncle, were injured but survived. They were rushed to a nearby hospital. Staff at the cold storage nearby alerted the police immediately. Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal inspected the site. A case has been registered. In a related incident early the same day in Nandyala district, four more died, raising Andhra Pradesh's accident death toll to seven.
