ADILABAD: A survey is in progress for the much-anticipated Adilabad-Armoor railway line. Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, stated that the Central government will decide the next steps once the survey report is submitted. He spoke at a meeting in Adilabad after inaugurating a new 50-bed Critical Care building at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), alongside Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. The building cost ₹23.75 crore to build. Additionally, a maternity ward, a minor operation theatre, and a 13-bed isolation ward were also opened. Mr. Kishan Reddy emphasized the Centre's focus on improving road connectivity and the infrastructure network in the former Adilabad district to boost economic growth and create jobs. He noted that the Centre has invested ₹1.5 lakh crore in National Highways across Telangana over the past 12 years. The upcoming greenfield highway connecting Mancherial and Vijayawada on the Nagpur-Vijayawada corridor will further improve inter-State connectivity. The government has also taken important steps to grow medical education and health services by establishing new medical colleges and upgrading healthcare infrastructure. Later, the Union Minister visited the proposed site of an airport in Adilabad town, located at an old Indian Air Force airstrip. Officials briefed him on plans to acquire land to develop a joint-use airport at the district headquarters. Mr. Reddy said, "A joint meeting of officials from the State government, Civil Aviation, and other agencies will be held in New Delhi soon to speed up the airport project in a coordinated way." Adilabad MP G. Nagesh, MLA Payal Shanker, and others attended the event.
