AIADMK Extends Application Deadline for Assembly Polls to December 31
December 27, 2025
AIADMK on Friday extended the deadline for candidates to apply for party tickets in the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala to December 31. The original deadline was December 23. Party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami said aspirants could submit their forms between December 28 and 31. Meanwhile, two former Ministers, C.Ve. Shanmugam and K. Pandiarajan, are thinking about changing their constituencies. Shanmugam, now a Rajya Sabha MP, plans to contest from Mailam instead of Villupuram, where he lost in 2021. Mailam is also his native area. In 2011, party chief Jayalalithaa had fielded him in Villupuram to take on K. Ponmudi, and he won. Pandiarajan was elected from Virudhunagar in 2011 on a DMDK ticket and from Avadi in 2016 on AIADMK's ticket but lost in 2021. He plans to return to Virudhunagar. Other constituencies being considered by Pandiarajan include Anna Nagar, Ambattur, and Tiruchendur. Early this week, party spokesperson Kovai Sathyan submitted his form for the Mylapore seat.
