Cochin Carnival Prep: Safety Boost for New Year Celebrations at Fort Kochi

The district officials are gearing up for the Cochin Carnival at Parade Ground and Veli Ground, Fort Kochi, with strict safety plans. A meeting on December 27, 2025, led by Collector G. Priyanka and Kochi Mayor V.K. Minimol, reviewed preparations with departments. Police will deploy in large numbers to maintain law and order, manage parking, enforce traffic rules, and run CCTV surveillance. Food safety and corporation teams will inspect stalls; strict action will follow for violations. Kerala Water Authority will ensure potable water supply for large crowds. Crowd control will cover modes of transport like jankars and Water Metro ferries. KSRTC plans seven bus services, and private buses with special permits will operate extra trips. Bio-toilets will be installed at the venue. Fire and Rescue will set up lights, deploy scuba teams and civil defence volunteers for emergencies. Ambulance and medical teams will be ready under the District Medical Officer. The PWD will inspect the Pappanji structure, which will be burned on New Year's Eve, to confirm safety protocols. Electricity board will maintain uninterrupted power supply. Coordination centres will operate 24/7 at the grounds to manage services smoothly. Officials including Deputy Mayor Deepak Joy and Sub Collector Grandhe Sai Krishna attended the review, committing to a safe and smooth mega event.
