Aurobindo Pharma director M. Madan Mohan Reddy said the real strength of a college is in teaching quality and student creativity, not just infrastructure. He praised Kakatiya University’s (KU) Pharmacy Department for its strong research in the pharmaceutical sector. Speaking at the two-day Golden Jubilee celebration at Kaloji Kalakshetram, Hanamkonda, on Saturday, Mr. Reddy commended the pioneer faculty who founded the department. He urged students to explore the many opportunities in pharmacy, highlighting that KU alumni have achieved global success. Mr. Reddy also talked about trends in the pharma industry. He noted that India is among the largest pharmaceutical sectors worldwide. Many drug patents will expire by 2034, he said, and generic medicines will dominate the market. This will put India alongside China and Europe as leaders in affordable healthcare. Aurobindo Pharma is ready to provide internships and training for KU students, he assured, stressing the importance of strong industry-academia collaboration for the next 50 years. Former KU student and ex-U.S. FDA director Mansoor Khan recalled the college’s humble start with limited facilities. He praised disciplined teachers and peer support for career success. "Challenges were turned into opportunities through vision and perseverance," he said. KU Vice-Chancellor K. Pratap Reddy called the College of Pharmacy a torchbearer for the university. He highlighted its world-class research and vast alumni network. The college has produced 3,000 B.Pharm graduates, 1,800 M.Pharm postgraduates, 400 Ph.D. scholars, and published over 3,000 research papers, showing its global impact.
