On December 28, the Calicut Archdiocese celebrated Christmas in a grand way with the ‘Felix Natalis’ cultural procession. Hundreds of people dressed as Santa Claus took part in the parade. Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakal flagged off the procession at 4 p.m. from St. Joseph’s Church in Kozhikode. The march ended near Freedom Square by the beach. Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas inaugurated the final event. The archdiocese said that the celebration was to promote social harmony and to spread the true spirit of Christmas. People from different religions joined in, showing unity, peace, and happiness. Leaders from various socio-cultural and spiritual groups also led the procession. This was the second edition of the ‘Felix Natalis’, inspired by the ‘Buon Natale’ event held annually in Thrissur by the Thrissur Archdiocese.
