Chittoor Ready for Vaikunta Ekadasi and New Year Rush at Kanipakam Temple
December 29, 2025
Chittoor district administration has made full arrangements for Vaikunta Ekadasi on December 30 and the New Year rush at temples, especially Sri Swayambhu Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Devasthanam in Kanipakam. The temple expects around 60,000 devotees each day on December 30, 31, and January 1. Authorities have set up queue lines inside and outside the temple to ensure smooth darshan and prevent stampedes. APSRTC will run special buses to the temple town. Electricity officials arranged generators for power backup and special lighting. Fire tender services and medical camps will be available onsite. The temple stopped ‘Antaralaya Darshanams’ for these three days to allow more devotees main darshan. A joint control room will monitor security and traffic. Around 200 police officers will be deployed for bandobust.
In nearby Anantapur district, SP P. Jagadeesh checked security at the ancient Chennakesava Swamy temple. He ensured CCTV surveillance, police presence, and good traffic management. "Visible policing had been increased at all temples to prevent chain snatchings and other offences," he said. He also confirmed special facilities for women and physically challenged devotees to ensure smooth darshan.
These measures aim to handle the huge crowds and keep celebrations safe and smooth in the festive days ahead.
