In Timmapur, Shorapur city, 43 students of a lower primary school fell sick after eating their midday meal on Monday. Taluk Health Officer Raja Venkatappa Naik confirmed that all affected children were taken to Taluk Hospital for care. Forty-two were treated in the outpatient department, and one student was admitted briefly but later discharged. Students reported feeling unwell and one showed mild giddiness after consuming rice and sambar, local sources said. Worried parents accused staff of serving food contaminated with lizards and demanded action against responsible persons. Block Education Officer Yallappa Kadlur said he visited the hospital promptly and confirmed that all students are now safe and discharged. He added, "I will ask midday meal officers to send food samples to laboratory for testing to ascertain the reason that led to the incident." Authorities await lab results to determine the cause of the illness.
