The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former MLA P.V. Anvar in connection with a loan misappropriation case. Officials on Monday said Mr. Anvar must appear for interrogation at the ED office in Kochi on December 31. The notice was sent by post and email. Mr. Anvar is now with the All India Trinamool Congress, recently allied with Congress's United Democratic Front. In November, the ED raided his residences and business places in Malappuram. The agency is investigating a ₹7.5-crore loan given by the Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC) in 2015 to Malamkulam Constructions, a company connected to Mr. Anvar. Afterwards, loans of ₹3.05 crore and ₹1.56 crore were granted to Pee Vee Aar Developers using the same collateral soon after. This led to a total non-performing asset (NPA) of about ₹22.3 crore, according to the ED. ED found 15 bank accounts in different names, suspected to be benami, used for questionable transactions. The probe continues as the agency looks deeper into the financial trail. This development adds pressure on Mr. Anvar amid serious allegations of financial misuse involving public funds.
