Officials announced on December 31, 2025, that a total of 2,516 nomination papers were filed for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The BMC has 227 wards, and elections will be held on January 15, with vote counting scheduled for January 16. The nomination process started on December 23 and ended on December 30. On the last day alone, 2,122 nominations were filed, including many last-minute entries as parties wrapped up seat-sharing deals. The M-East ward, covering Govandi, Deonar, Chembur, Trombay, Mankhurd, and Anik, received the highest number of nominations at 183. By December 29, just over 400 nominations had been received. The scrutiny of nominations began at 11 a.m. on December 31, and candidates have until 3 p.m. on January 2 to withdraw their papers. Officials also reported that 11,391 nomination forms (AB forms) were distributed through 23 Returning Officers across Mumbai.
