On January 2, 2026, Loni police claimed that the murder of Yogesh (58), a retired Indian Air Force employee, was planned by his sons. Yogesh was shot dead on December 26 by two men on a bike while returning home to Ashok Vihar Colony. "Yogesh had been trying to get his house vacated by his sons, following which they allegedly plotted his murder out of greed for the property," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Siddhartha Gautam. The sons reportedly hired their neighbour, Arvind (32), and his brother-in-law Naveen, a police constable from Kaushambi district, to kill Yogesh. "During interrogation, Arvind confessed that he and Naveen fired two shots at Yogesh, causing his death," the ACP said. Arvind was arrested on December 31 and sent to 14 days' judicial custody by the Ghaziabad court on January 2. Police recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and used cartridges from Arvind. The constable Naveen and Yogesh's two sons are still absconding. Investigation continues.
