Liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh rose notably in December 2025, reaching about ₹2,767 crore. This marks an 8% growth from ₹2,568 crore in December 2024. The biggest jump came in the last three days of the year. From December 29 to 31, liquor worth ₹543 crore was sold, compared to ₹336 crore in the same days of 2024. Officials said, "This spike is mainly due to New Year celebrations, extended holidays, and more spending during festive times." District-wise, Visakhapatnam led with ₹178.6 crore in sales, followed by Tirupati at ₹169.4 crore and NTR district at ₹155.4 crore. On the lower side, Alluri Sitarama Raju district sold ₹30.7 crore, Parvathipuram Manyam ₹35.4 crore, and Sri Sathya Sai district ₹65 crore. The government expects to maintain high sales in 2026 as these numbers reflect changing habits and strong festive demand in cities. Officials also said, "December usually sees more liquor consumption due to festivals, weddings, and celebrations, but 2025 shows a sharper rise than before."
