January 2, 2026
A deadly house fire in Melbourne’s south-east led to murder charges against a 29-year-old woman. Emergency services arrived at a home in Sunburnt Circuit, Clyde North, around 1:45am on December 18. Two men, aged 46 and 44, were badly hurt. The 44-year-old man died from his injuries later that day. A woman was also hospitalized but with minor injuries. Victoria police said Friday, “A 29-year-old woman taken to hospital under police guard has this morning been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.” Authorities say the people involved knew each other. The woman is in custody and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Saturday. Police confirmed two others inside the house, a 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, were not hurt. The 46-year-old man remains in stable condition at the hospital.
