Cyberabad SI Arrested for Taking ₹20,000 Bribe to Delete Complaint

A Sub-Inspector of Police, M. Ramesh, posted at Kollur police station in Cyberabad, was arrested on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The officer demanded the bribe to delete the complainant’s name from a case registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Essential Commodities Act. The ACB said M. Ramesh initially asked for ₹30,000 and already accepted ₹5,000 from the complainant on December 17, 2025. The remaining ₹20,000 was recovered from him during the arrest. The officer has been produced before the Special Court for ACB cases in Hyderabad. Further investigation is ongoing. The complainant’s identity is being kept secret for safety reasons.
