The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) on Friday approved 22 new projects under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa shared on X that these projects created a total of 34,061 jobs. Tamil Nadu alone accounts for 23,451 of these jobs from three key projects: TATA Electronics (1,500 jobs), Motherson (5,741 jobs), and Foxconn (16,210 high-end jobs). Rajaa noted that Foxconn’s investment, under Yuzhan Technology and approved via ECMS, is the single largest approval in the third tranche of the scheme. Unlike previous rounds, this time only state-wise job numbers and product-wise investment details were made public. The total investment approved in this tranche is ₹41,863 crore. Of this, Tamil Nadu’s share is a massive ₹27,166 crore, coming entirely from enclosures investments by Motherson, Foxconn, and TATA Electronics. This highlights Tamil Nadu's strong role in India’s electronics manufacturing push.
