Tamil Nadu Police have asked X Corp, formerly Twitter, to block 22 URLs. These URLs show harsh visuals of a migrant worker being brutally attacked by four juveniles in Tiruttani on December 26, 2025. The Cyber Crime Wing (CCW) said the videos could harm young people, encourage violence, and disturb public peace. The attack happened near Tiruttani railway station. The attackers used a sharp weapon causing serious injuries. The victim, Suraj, 34, from Odisha, was treated at a government hospital and then discharged. The juveniles, all from Nemelli in Tiruvallur district, recorded and shared the assault video on social media. This sparked strong criticism from politicians, journalists, and influencers. Police arrested the accused swiftly. The CCW said the videos showed graphic violence and might mislead youth with dangerous ideas. They asked X Corp to block the URLs to stop the spread. The police warned, “Since the mentioned handle violates the law of the land, failure to block the post will lead to action against X Corp under IT rules.” A senior officer said revealing juvenile offenders' identities is illegal under the Juvenile Justice Act. He added, “We act strictly in accordance with the law, not emotions. Steps have been taken to block the URLs as the content involves graphic violence and exposes the identities of juveniles.” Some of the URLs were shared by high-profile politicians and popular fact-checkers on X, adding to the challenge of controlling the spread.
