India Launches First Community Radio Station on LoC in Rajouri
January 3, 2026
The first community radio station along the Line of Control (LoC) has been launched in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. Named "Radio Sangam," it was set up by the Indian Army with local officials and residents at Keri village, about one kilometre from the LoC. Officials said it is the first such radio on the LoC and will help fight misinformation and propaganda from across the border. It will also give locals a platform to share true information and discuss issues. The broadcast reaches areas across the LoC due to its strategic location. The station was inaugurated by Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma. He told attendees the radio would promote social awareness, increase public participation, amplify local voices, and strengthen ties between residents and the administration while fighting propaganda from across the border.
