Thick fog covered Hyderabad and nearby areas early on Saturday, January 3, 2026, reducing visibility and causing concern among commuters. This heavy fog was observed for the third consecutive day in the city, an unusual weather event. Videos and photos shared by locals showed dense fog hanging low in the air. K. Naga Ratna, Head of the India Meteorological Centre Hyderabad, explained that fog formed due to moisture accumulating at low levels in the atmosphere. People expressed worry about driving two- and four-wheelers in such poor visibility. In November last year, when fog also lowered visibility, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police issued safety advisories. They reminded drivers to slow down, avoid high-beam lights, use low-beam lights, and switch on fog lights when entering foggy areas to reduce collision risks. On this chilly morning, dense fog covered areas like Narsingi, Puppalguda, the Financial District, and even the Telangana High Court near the Musi river. Roads and buildings appeared shrouded, making travel difficult. Residents and workers experienced the fog firsthand on the cold winter day. The weather department and police continue to advise caution as the foggy conditions persist in Hyderabad.
