Hyderabad’s 1st Big Hot Air Balloon Festival to Soar From Jan 16
January 4, 2026
Hyderabad is all set for its first large hot air balloon festival from January 16 to 18. The event is organised by Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC). Valluru Kranthi, Managing Director of TGTDC, told The Hindu that 15 international-standard hot air balloons will take part. Foreign pilots from about 15 countries, mainly Europe, will bring their registered balloons. The festival will run for three days with flights in the mornings and glow shows in the evenings. Morning flights will cover distances of 8 to 10 km, lasting 30 to 40 minutes, taking off from one spot and landing at another. "The exact take-off locations cannot be fixed in advance as they depend entirely on wind direction," said Ms. Kranthi. Tentative launch sites include Hyderabad Golf Club near Golconda Fort, Jalamandalii Park near Gandipet, and a place near Himayatsagar. Morning rides are limited to 30 to 40 passengers a day. Evening shows will be at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, open to the public. These feature night glow balloons that light up while moving up and down at the same spot. Up to 100 to 120 people can enjoy evening rides each day, about 300 to 400 over three days. Booking will be online via platforms like BookMyShow or the District app. Evening rides will cost around ₹500 per person. All pilots have valid licences, ensuring safety. This festival brings a colorful and exciting addition to Hyderabad’s tourism calendar.
